The Story of the Toyota Corolla

In 1970, while the Big 3 car manufacturers where marketing gas-guzzling "boats," Toyota came out with the 2nd evolution of the Corolla. A car with good fuel efficiency and great dependability - for only $1798. 40 years later, Toyota now owns the greatest market share of the US auto sales.
But this isn't about cars, its about reading the writing on the wall and acting on it as Avi Friedman sees it.
Last night, Avi Friedman spoke a clear message to the people gathered for the Net-Zero Energy Home Awards. He said that four pillars will determine the success or failure of each community: the economy, society, culture and the environment.
The writing on the wall is that great opportunity exists for all of us today because so much of what has been built in the past is set to be reinvented.
At its foundation The Shift Home has the same story as the Toyota Corolla, a more affordable yet better built than other homes. An opportunity for everybody to take advantage of.
