Lover or Hater? Austin's Modern, Green Affordable 969 community

969

We think this community is so apple-pie we're going to trip all the way to Austin to see it with our own eyes. Half truth. Curtis is going to be in Austin next week, so we were reminded of coming across this community a couple months ago.

I agree with the previous comments. I also think that the 969 community housing is much more appealing than some other "modern" block houses sprawled across swamplands. These communitys are an important and worthy prototype for future development in the area of sustinable houses and design.

Maybe I'm having trouble reading the plan, but as Crystal mentioned, this looks like this unfortuantely a cliche, single use suburb. There are some great looking house designs, but I couldn't imagine living in a neighbourhood that isn't at least a bit more urban with some higher density and commercial uses mixed in.

Proves the idea that suburbia looks like suburbia no matter what the house style. However, there are some great designs in this neighborhood. I think a higher density and broader range of zones would make this even better.
